The Bare Bones

Today's Outfit This UK band was a gorgeous Bandcamp discovery. Opener “Trajectory” is an immediate grabber and “Towers” surely another hit in a very 90s rock style album with a hint of grunge in the voice. The record moves between rock singles, carefully crafted jams and, occasionally, lovely orchestral arrangements. I was very reminded of the Verve’s deeper catalogue. Very recommended! Favorite track: Trajectory.

about

4 years on from their debut they are back with their heads a little bit more screwed!
If the first album 'Glimpse' was the sound of middle age acceptance then 'The Bare Bones' is the realisation that you don't know everything and the world will bite you in the ass if you're not paying attention.
Rob McKinlay (ex-Viva Stereo) is still doing the music thing and widening his collaborative net. Now with a band in tow the tunes are a little more organic but he's also been embracing his 2000's XTRMNTR-electro roots.

Influenced this time by The Beta Band, early Verve, a trawl through some classic 70's rock, The Tragically Hip and Neil Young by way of Soundgarden it points to someone digging out their fuzz pedals.
You've got to go back to move forward...
